A whole bunch of keen new scuba divers have just joined the Montreal scuba diving scene! We are so proud of our entire group of newly certified PADI Open Water Divers!

We had a awesome weekend with you all and you have all made us very proud. 

All of our instructors and divemasters are really proud to have been a part of fulfilling so many scuba dreams!

This Saturday, May 5 is Pointe-Claire Village`s Springfest - and we`ll be there!

Why not come discover this gorgeous part of Montreal? Lots of little boutiques, restaurants, cafés and fun await you. We love this area - and not just because that`s where Action Scuba is located. Located on the lakeshore in the West Island, Pointe-Claire Village is a nice escape from big box urban centres.

On Saturday, May 5, the Pointe-Claire Village Association will be hosting SpringFest. There will be activities and fun for the whole family, so why check it out?

Congratulations to all of the Action Scuba divers who achieved the rank of PADI Master Scuba Diver in 2011!

The Master Scuba Diver rating is the highest rank in recreational diving, and is the goal towards which all scuba divers aspire.

Acheiving this rank is really something for you brag about as a diver, as it means you are a safe, experienced and well-rounded scuba diver that anyone would be proud to have as a dive buddy.

To achieve this rank, a diver must:

• Be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, or equivalent
• Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, or equivalent
• Be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver, an achievement in itself
• Have at least 50 logged dives
• Have completed at least 5 PADI specialty diver courses, such Night, Deep, Wreck, Drift, Drysuit or Nitrox.
• And be at least 12 years old.

Did you know that even teens and kids can acheive this rank if they meet the requirements? We have a number of Junior Master Scuba Divers here at Action Scuba who have shown tremendous dedication to the sport. It`s a great way to give young people a positive goal to work towards.

Reminder: Our fantastically useful DAN Diving Emergency Management Provider course is this weekend at Action Scuba.

We have a few spots left, and the course won`t be offered again until later this year. So free up your schedule and join us to have your knowledge and readiness for diving emergencies seriously enhanced.

• The next level of using oxygen to treat scuba diving injuries
• How to recognise and treat injuries sustained from hazardous marine life while diving.
• How to use an AED
• How to perform an onsite neurological exam for divers

Action Scuba is not just a dive shop that happens to be located in the West Island. We are also an active part of the West Island community.

We work with local schools to organise scuba diving activities for their students.

Throughout summer we run free Discover Scuba Diving sessions at West Island pools.

We offer different activtities for local Scouts troops, including free visits by our instructors to promote marine conservation and awareness of the environment.

We were also proud to sponsor the most recent National Aquatics Championships at the Pointe-Claire Aquatic Centre.

And we`re always looking for ways to promote water sports and interest in the marine world to young people.
