When most of us started out scuba diving, our main objective was to learn to dive so we could explore on our vacations down south or give ourselves a new challenge. Few of us initially entertain the idea of becoming a dive professional.
So, you may wonder, how did the Divemasters and Instructors you worked with on your courses do it?
The funny thing about diving is that with each dive, you get a little better and with each course you take, you become more aware of others around you. And when you really get bitten by the scuba bug, you develop this thirst for more and want to improve your skills and continue learning.
And then, once you complete your Rescue Diver course, you realise that you can actually take care of others, and that helping other divers gives you a sense of personal satisfaction.
Guess what? You`re now ready to become a Divemaster!
You may not feel quite ready today to supervise divers, but you may have a hunger to grow your scuba diving skills and meet your next personal challenge.
That`s ok! You don`t start the program having all the answers. All you need is a willingness to learn and a solid diving foundation, which you will have earned through your previous courses. We`ll guide you through the rest!
That`s really what the Divemaster program is all about: Giving you the extra knowledge about dive theory that sets you apart from the average diver and giving you the skills and confidence you need to supervise divers.
In the end, your Divemaster training will make you someone other divers look up to, someone who inspires confidence and gives people the courage to explore the underwater world. You`ll help make scuba diving more enjoyable for people and you`ll get a tremendous sense of personal satisfaction from it.
You can go complete Divemaster training in many places in a matter of days. Please don`t. If you truly want to be the kind of dive professional that people admire and look up to, please take the time to do it right, over several months, and take every possible opportunity to learn along the way from the other dive professionals you respect.
